Nicole van Dijk is an Australian artist born in 1980 in Melbourne. She has had a love of drawing from an early age and would always travel with a full art kit on any family holiday – without exception.

Long road trips without iPads meant plenty of drawing time. As a child she was always drawing people and figures. By the time Nicole reached high school, Art was her real passion, and she finished in the top 12 Art students of the state. Nevertheless, it seemed the only way to make a career from art was to pursue a career in graphic design.

Nicole’s design career saw her work in many top agencies, with forays into theatre and the projections department. In the last decade she completed her Masters in Education and divided her career between teaching and design.

In 2018 life circumstances changed and Nicole began painting more regularly. Living in the inner suburbs of Melbourne – she craves space and is drawn to the bush and coast, regularly camping with her family and taking long walks in a nearby pocket of bushland.

Nicole is at the beginning of her painting journey with the intention of becoming a dedicated full-time artist in 2019.
